School attendance

“For every 5% of possible school sessions missed due to unauthorised school absences, young people in care scored over two grades less at GCSE.”

This is why school attendance is the responsibility of all professionals in a child or young person's life. Professionals should ensure that school attendance is discussed at Child in Need meetings, Child Protection Conferences, Child Looked After Reviews and Personal Education Plan meetings.

Virtual School have high expectations regarding school attendance and want the school attendance of children open to Trafford Children’s Services to be at least as good as other children who attend school in the borough.

Virtual School Attedance Support

Virtual Schools have School Age and Post-16 Mentor who can provide targeted support to children, young people, and their parents and carers to address issues affecting low school attendance. If there are attendance concerns contact Virtual School to discuss the support and guidance available.
